December BoxyCharm :: ‘Tis the Sea-Sun Review

Hello all my Beauties!!

I know I’m a bit late with this, but not too late as we are just starting the month of January, but today I’m reviewing my December Boxycharm box. Which is also my last box. No, not because it isn’t any good, actually I really loved this subscription, but because I wanted to go back to ordering my own makeup and I’m also trying to be more aware of my beauty and makeup purchases as far as vegan & cruelty free products. With BoxyCharm you do get both, but I just really wanted to start making my own selections of products to use.

Boxycharm is a subscription that you pay $21.00 a month. If you are interested see link here

Tarte Glitter Lip Paint

What Boxycharm has to say:

This sheer lip gloss is infused with shimmering glitter and delivers a luscious, multidimensional and high-shine finish. The reflective glitter gloss can stand alone or as a lip topper, giving your lips a fuller look. The sunflower seed wax and mineral pigments coat, soothe and soften the lips.

MSRP- $20.00

My Thoughts:

From the picture above as you can see it’s a very sheer almost nude lip gloss, but the shimmer is a bit hard to see in this picture. Actually the shimmer is very light so almost unable to see, but it does give a nice shine to any lip color you may use this over or by itself. The doe foot applicator also makes it very easy to apply on your lips.

Bodyography Lip Liner

What Boxycharm has to say:

This vegan, cruelty free Bodyography Lip Pencil is antioxidant rich, infused with coconut oil and vitamin E. The smooth yet long-wearing formula glides on effortlessly, delivering durable pigment that can frame, fill in and define the lips.

MSRP- 12.00

My Thoughts:

I actually used this liner just under the Tarte Glitter Lip Gloss and I thought the two worked wonderfully together. The pigment is pretty decent and the color is buildable depending on how light or dark you want it to be on your lips. I also found it was very easy to apply. I’m also quite happy for this item to be vegan and cruelty free!!

Pretty Vulgar The Powder Room Translucent Setting Powder – “matte About It”

What Boxycharm has to say:

This weightless, skin-smoothing, translucent setting powder locks your makeup into place while enhancing the look of your foundation. The soft puff applicator delivers the right amount of powder, blurring and filling fine lines and minimizing the appearance of pores. This specially formulated powder absorbs excess oils and reduces shine, leaving behind a soft matte finish.

MSRP- $32.00

My Thoughts:

I always love the eye catching packaging of the Pretty Vulgar brand because it has that vintage style to it which I love. Sadly this is not a vegan, cruelty free item…bummer, but I will still use it. Using the powder puff I tried to place the powder in specific areas, but I think the puff is better used all around the face. Like most translucent powders it definitely gives a nice blur to any lines and sets my makeup with a nice matte finish as specified and gives your face a much brighter/more awake look to it.

Cosmedix Detox Activated Charcoal Mask

What Boxycharm has to say:

Detoxify your pores from daily grime with Cosmedix’s Activated Charcoal Mask. Diatomaceous earth visibly improves the brightness of your skin while the activated charcoal and kaolin clay draw out dirt and impurities from your pores.

MSRP – $30.00

My Thoughts:

I’ve only used this one time so far and from what I can remember of it, it did seem to leave my face feeling much more cleansed with a little bit more brightness to it. The mask itself is like a grey color when applying and I think I left it on for about 15 minutes. I also think this is a cruelty free and vegan product, but don’t quote me on that!!

PYT Mini Hair Straightener

What Boxycharm has to say:

Get those pesky baby hairs, straighten those bangs or touch up your curls on the go with this incredibly adorable PYT Mini Straightener. the floating ceramic plates adjust as you style, allowing you to create straight, wavy, or curly locks. This little guy reaches a maximum temperature of 400°F or 204°C.

MSRP – $75.00

My Thoughts:

This is the only item I have yet to tryout, but I like that it’s small so easy to carry with you almost anywhere and it has a nice soft felt carrying case that you can easily slip the straightener in to keep it protected. I think I’ll probably try this out when I go on vacation this Summer with my husband to Maine, but as a just in case I may still bring my regular straightener. Not sure yet, I’ll probably do a test run first to see how well it does with all my hair and not just flyways or bangs which I don’t have.
